DID Dissociative Identity Disorder

Studying the etymological meaning of the word “identity” I have been attracted by the connection within the phenomenon of a “split personality”, a serious illness denominated “DID, dissociative identity disorder”, "which has been described as a creative way to cope with unbearable pain" (Noble, 2011, p. 6).
I found interesting how our mind is able to create a different personality within the same body, some case arrive to 600 personality, to face their life.
A famous example is the artist Kim Noble (or one of her 20 identities), a woman that suffer of this symptoms since she was 14 years old.
What fascinated me is that each identity can approach art within their "own distinctive style, colours and themes, ranging from solitary deserts, sea scenes and abstracts to collages and paintings with traumatic content. Many alters are unaware that they share a body with other artists." (Noble, 2011)

Below you can see some of her projects, the same "hands" but different mind.

Suffering, passion, loss, drama and beauty. The same feeling absorbed and elaborated in fourteen opponent ways.
Using the internet as a medium for expression, it is possible for a person to construct many personalities for themselves. In front of the screen you can actually be the person that you want.
Where does this separation come from and where does it lead?
